That’s it then. A quarter of 2012 has gone by in a flash. Means we’re one month closer to the summer holidays though – brilliant! Our favourite travel bloggers have pretty much been on heat this month, we’ve got brilliant blog posts coming out of our earholes. Must be the spring time excitement/autumn closing in…

Let’s start with the top budget travel news from March 2012 first:

  • EasyJet are joining Ryanair in charging for choosing a seat. It’s a tiered system, depending on how good your seat is, but it’ll start at £3. Would you rather pay  to avoid the panic scrum for seats at check in, or has £3 just blown your budget? Let me know in the comments box below.
  • Air Passenger Duty in the UK has also gone up, meaning you’ll soon be paying more for flights – never a better time to check out long distance train travel or other ways of reaching your destination.

Which reminds me, the recent talk on the Future of Tourism by The Planeterra Foundation in association with G Adventures revealed a welcome trend in how travellers, tour companies and holiday enterprises are starting to look at how they can travel better. This is for all you fact lovers…

  • Kenya women 150x150 The Best Travel Blogs and Posts in March Travel supports 10% of all economic activity globally.
  • And 8% of all global improvement.
  • 47% of all international tourists choose developing countries for travel.
  • No other sector spreads wealth like travel does.
  • 1 in 12 jobs globally is related to travel and tourism.
